Let’s Help

Roofers who offer to pay your deductible are not professional roofers. They use this tactic to make it seem like you’re getting a free roof and entice you to choose them. It’s illegal in most states so don’t fall for their tricks! Please be aware it is a felony offense for insurance in Florida should you not pay a deductible, your contractor not collect the full deductible, or you keep any of the insurance money not spent on the repairs.

If you are concerned that you may have storm damage, make sure you request a roofing estimate to check and contact your insurance company to file a claim. We will help coordinate with your insurance adjuster and meet them at your home to make sure no damage is missed.

Architectural shingles are far less likely to blow away in a storm because the shingles are all one piece, unlike the 3-tabs. The 3-tabs have tabs that flip and flop in heavy winds leading to a higher likelihood of damage during harsh Florida storms. Architectural shingles can withstand up to 130mph winds when secured with six nails, equivalent to what it would endure in a category 5 hurricane.

Architectural shingles are easier and faster to install than 3-tab shingles. All roof replacements are broken into a series of phases:

  • The old roof will need to be removed and the decking inspected for wood rot.
  • All rotten wood will need to be replaced back to a nailable surface according to FBC 2021.
  • A protective barrier called a underlayment will be installed in the valley and on the decking.
  • New shingles will be installed along with the proper accessories.
Most roof replacement projects can be done in a matter of 2-3 days depending on the size and complexity of your roof.

  • The Dehlinger permitting department would file all required documents needed to obtain a roofing permit in your city or county
  • A Dehlinger Team member would schedule a time that works with your schedule
  • A dumpster would be delivered to your property and placed in the driveway
  • The materials will be delivered onto the roof
  • All materials would be inspected by a Dehlinger team member for correct selections and possible transport damage
  • The Dehlinger team would begin to tear off the roof down to the plywood decking
  • The decking would be renailed per code to pass inspection
  • Two layers underlayment would be applied to the decking surface along with new metal drip edge
  • The in progress inspection get passed by the building department the crew will begin to install the new shingles
  • All debris would be cleaned up, dumpster removed and magnet run over all areas to pick up loose nails.
  • The final building department inspection would be called for final inspection

No, at Dehlinger we always estimates and inspections at no cost to the customer.

No, Dehlinger recommends not to be home as this process is extremely loud and noisy. The same goes for your pets to be removed from the house if possible as the process can be a bit loud and not very relaxing.
